Meet the Experience Gold Coast Careers & Employability Team

Samantha Kilmartin

Careers & Employability Program Manager 

Sam is a passionate and experienced career development professional with a background in strategic HR management. She graduated with first-class honours and has just submitted her PhD, exploring how to help graduates thrive in their careers.

Sam has spent her career focusing on helping people grow and succeed, whether through one-on-one career advice, teaching, coaching, or running training and development programs. For the past four years, she’s been leading the Kickstart Program for Experience Gold Coast, while also teaching at Griffith University and managing industry-based projects. 

Beyond her professional work, Sam is dedicated to giving back. She provides outreach career support and is actively involved with the Career Development Association of Australia (CDAA) and the National Association of Graduate Career Advisory Services (NAGCAS), where she’s part of the management committee and executive board. Her mission is to ensure everyone has access to accurate, contemporary career advice and the opportunity to pursue their career goals. 

When she’s not helping others achieve their career goals, Sam loves skiing, spending time with family and friends, and she also adores dogs.

Sherrie is passionate about enhancing student employability by helping individuals identify and maximize their strengths, skills, and values to align with career goals. With a background in HR, organisational change, and performance management, she supports students in navigating career transitions, internships, and job placements, ensuring they are well-prepared for the workforce. 

A professional member of the Career Development Association of Australia (CDAA), Sherrie stays up to date with emerging trends in career development to provide the most effective guidance. Her broad experience across multiple industries allows her to understand the expectations of diverse employers and tailor her approach to meet the needs of students entering the job market. 

Sherrie  also enjoys everything the Gold Coast has to offer and loves getting out on a boat, enjoying the beaches and hiking in the hinterland with friends and family.
